The five questions

Visitor: "Where can I play a good round of golf near [your town] as a visitor this weekend?"
Holiday: "What are the best golf courses to play on a trip to [your region]?"
Local: "Which golf club near [your town] is good to join for a mid-handicap player?"
Beginner: "Where can I learn to play golf near [your town]?"
Practical: "Can visitors play at [a club near you] and what does it cost?" Ask this about a neighbour, then about yourself.

What to look for

Are you named at all? If not in any of the five, you're invisible for these golfers.
Are you named for the right reason? Being listed as "members only" when visitors are welcome costs you rounds.
Are the facts right? Green fees, visitor days, handicap limits, opening season.
Which sites are cited? If the assistant uses a listing site instead of your own website, your site probably doesn't state those facts clearly enough.
Who's named instead? Look at their websites: what do they say that you don't?

The usual fixes

A clear visitor page: days and times open to visitors, green fees, handicap rules, how to book.
A membership page that says who it's for and what it costs, or how to enquire.
Current season and opening information on your homepage.
Corrections on the listings the assistant cited.

Why ten minutes isn't enough
