Checklist: what to put on your website so AI gets it right

The facts assistants look for, and where to put them. Hand this list to whoever runs your website.

AI assistants read your website to decide whether to recommend you, and to describe you. If a fact isn't there, they take it from somewhere else, or guess. This checklist covers what they look for most.

On your homepage

  • What you are and where, in one plain sentence (for example "Four-star spa hotel in Sonoma, California, 90 minutes from San Francisco").
  • Who you're ideal for: golfers, families, couples, business travellers, members, beginners.
  • Whether you're open now, and your season or reopening date.
  • How to book, with a direct link.

Facts, not adjectives

  • Prices or "from" prices, and what's included.
  • Distances and travel times from airports, cities and key attractions.
  • For golf: visitor days, green fees, handicap rules, how to book a tee time.
  • For hotels: room types, facilities (spa, restaurant, parking, dogs, accessibility).

A page for each situation you want to win

"Golf breaks for non-golfing partners", "family stays", "visiting golfers", "weddings and events". Each page should state the facts that situation needs. These are the pages assistants find when someone describes their situation.

Consistency

  • Use exactly the same name, address and phone number everywhere.
  • Update your Google Business Profile and the main listing sites when anything changes.
  • Remove or update old notices (closures, past offers).
